Haunted Alton

Haunted Alton explores the connection between environmental factors and the density of paranormal sightings in the town of Alton, Illinois, specifically in relation to the stone tapes theory. This theory hypothesizes that certain kinds of rock are more susceptible to recording the spiritual energy of a haunting.

Using the 1960 Alton City Plan by Harland Bartholomew as visual inspiration, this book is a collection of 28 maps showing the relationship between haunted areas and limestone bedrock, mining sites, sinkholes, aquifer levels, and building types.
